What I've learned of Miami

Police force: there is none. They don't care about traffic laws! My husband sped past an officer and didn't get pulled over. I've seen officers literally tell people to jaywalk...they are understaffed by at least 200, I was told, but no one wants to fill those positions.

People: everyone is so nice. There is such a community feeling and togetherness, it's great. Everyone I met was so kind to me. There are so many different cultures here! It's basically a huge melting pot. Our tiny branch has 8 different languages. There's a lot of people from Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba, Venezuela, Dom republic, and so many other places!

Driving: one word, awful. Basically, 80% is a first or second generation immigrant so not many people speak English so they can't read traffic signs/don't actually have a license. No one uses a blinker. Red lights last forever and at them, people leave so much space between cars. There's literally enough room for another car to fit extremely comfortably between the two stopped. Everybody cuts everybody off. To get anywhere you will probably perform 2-3 U-turns. There's many little drive safely signs with flowers and balloons. I guess a lot of people die in car accidents there.
